Not terribly exciting...

The Lotus Palace - Jeannie Lin

It was okay, the biggest thing this book has going for it is the rich cultural setting of Ancient China and the new way the author wrote the story. While I love a good court intrigued, and there are precious good little of those, setting this story in the prostitution district was inventive as it took you away from the familiar.

Pacing was rather bad and the plot was thin at best, not a lot of action really. I feel lukewarm towards the characters and I'm not so sure about the 'happy ending', it read too much like "have your cake and eat it too.' But I guess with a romance book it was expected.
